SUNBURY -- United Plate Glass has reached nine consecutive years without a reportable workplace injury, the company announced.
The Sunbury-area glass and glazing company credits employee training and workplace awareness for the safety milestone. All company installers have completed OSHA 10-Hour Construction Training, while lead installers and several fabrication and project management employees have completed the 30-hour program.
United Plate Glass President Nate Lawrence said employees take responsibility not only for their own safety but also for that of their coworkers.
"Our employees remain alert, communicate concerns and step in when something doesn't look right," Lawrence said. "That level of awareness and teamwork is essential to making sure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day."
The company's current Experience Modification Rating, a measure used to assess workplace safety performance, is 0.718, compared with an industry average of 1.0. United Plate Glass said its rating has steadily improved since 2020.
Family-owned and operated since 1980, United Plate Glass serves commercial customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic and residential customers across Pennsylvania. The company is headquartered near Sunbury and operates a fabrication facility in Shenandoah.
