McCLURE -- A two-alarm fire destroyed a building Monday afternoon at Hilltop Pallets in western Snyder County’s West Beaver Township.
Snyder County emergency dispatch received the call at 12:19 p.m. for the fire at 261 Bannerville Hill Road, which has a McClure mailing address. Dispatch confirmed that firefighters contained the blaze but did not provide the time crews brought it under control or when the last units cleared the scene.
The building was part of Hilltop Pallets, a family-owned business John Speicher founded in 2010. Dispatch did not identify the building or say how its loss would affect the company's operations or employees.
Officials also did not release information Monday about possible injuries, the cause of the fire or an estimate of the damage. Dispatch confirmed that approximately 20 companies responded but did not provide a list of those departments or identify the incident commander.
The two-alarm designation brought a large response to the rural property, though dispatch didn't disclose when the incident was upgraded or which agency requested additional help.
Calls to several responding fire companies seeking additional information weren't returned before press time Monday.
The extent of the damage beyond the destroyed building remained unclear. No information was available about whether the fire damaged other structures, equipment, vehicles or stored materials at the property.
No public incident report from fire officials was available by press time Monday.
