LEWISTOWN -- Motorists traveling Route 522 in Lewistown Borough should prepare for traffic delays beginning Monday as crews begin work on a bridge spanning Kishacoquillas Creek.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that work to restore the bridge approaches will begin Oct. 26, with construction expected to last approximately two weeks.
Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the project.
Crews will work on one lane during the first week before shifting operations to the opposite lane Monday, Nov. 2.
According to PennDOT, the restoration is intended to improve driving conditions and extend the service life of the bridge.
Wen-Brooke Contracting Inc. of Three Springs is the contractor for the project.
PennDOT cautioned that the construction schedule could change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
