REEDSVILLE -- Motorists traveling east on Route 322 in Mifflin County can expect lane restrictions beginning Monday as crews begin work to rehabilitate a bridge deck.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Thursday that work on the concrete deck surface of the Route 322 eastbound bridge spanning West Railroad Street in Brown Township will begin Oct. 19.
The project is intended to improve driving conditions and extend the bridge’s service life.
During construction, the left passing lane will be closed. PennDOT said the passing lane is the only lane expected to be affected by the project.
Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone, particularly during concrete deliveries, which could result in periods of slow-moving traffic.
PennDOT also cautioned drivers not to follow concrete delivery trucks into the closed lane.
The work is expected to take one week or less, although the schedule could change depending on weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Wen-Brooke Contracting Inc. of Three Springs is the contractor for the project.
