Traffic stop leads to drug paraphernalia case

MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown are investigating after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia.

Police said a 2016 Subaru was stopped at 11:35 p.m. Aug. 28 in the 5600 block of William Penn Highway for numerous Title 75 violations. The operator was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.

The investigation remains open.

Police investigate firearm allegation

EAST WATERFORD -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown are investigating an allegation that a convicted felon had access to firearms.

Police responded at 6:20 p.m. Sept. 1 to 2408 Route 35 South for a reported domestic dispute. While investigating, police received an allegation that a felon had access to firearms.

Police said the case remains under investigation.

Driver possibly injured in Route 35 crash

McALISTERVILLE -- One driver suffered a possible injury in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday on Route 35 near Resinger Street, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown.

Police said a 2011 Honda Pilot driven by Nevaeh B. Sheeler, 20, of McAlisterville, slowed because a school bus in the eastbound lane was coming to a stop. A 2019 Hyundai driven by Rebekah E. Zimmerman, 40, of McAlisterville, then struck the rear of Sheeler’s vehicle.

Zimmerman was not injured. Sheeler was listed as having a possible injury but was released at the scene after evaluation by Fayette EMS.

The Hyundai was towed from the scene, while the Honda was driven away. Fayette Fire Company and EMS assisted. g_lwtn_04oct2026_1350

No injuries reported in Mifflintown crash

MIFFLINTOWN -- No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening on Orange Street, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown.

Police said a 2008 Honda Civic was attempting to parallel park in front of a parked 2010 Ford Focus in the area of 505 Orange St. when the Honda struck the Ford, causing minor damage.

The driver of the Honda was wearing a seat belt. The Ford was unoccupied at the time. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. g_lwtn_04oct2026_1350
