Police: Vehicle malfunction leads to Route 35 crash

THOMPSONTOWN -- A Lewistown man suffered a suspected minor injury after a vehicle malfunction caused a crash on state Route 35 in Juniata County.

Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown said Douglas L. Cook, 50, was traveling north in a 2016 Nissan Rogue at about 1:45 p.m. Sept. 16 when the vehicle malfunctioned and the front axle broke.

The vehicle left the roadway and traveled along the shoulder for approximately 20 yards before striking a tree and coming to rest, police said.

Cook was wearing a seat belt and was not transported for medical treatment. Police issued him a written warning for driving at a safe speed.

State police investigate harassment call

JUNIATA TERRACE -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown investigated a reported harassment incident at 2:18 a.m. Sept. 26.

According to police, troopers responded to a harassment call in the area of 136 Terrace Blvd. in Juniata Terrace Borough.

No additional details about the incident or individuals involved were provided in the police report.

McClure man charged in alleged sexual assault

BEAVER SPRINGS -- A 59-year-old McClure man has been arrested following a Pennsylvania State Police investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a child.

State police at Selinsgrove identified the man as Larry Wray. Police said they were made aware of what the report describes as an "aggravated indecent sexual assault" involving a 6-year-old Beaver Springs girl.

The report lists the incident period as beginning Sept. 23, 2019, and continuing through Sept. 23, 2024, on Snyder Avenue in Spring Township.

Police said Wray was arrested and charges were filed. The report did not provide additional details about the allegations or charges.
