LEWISTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police and local law enforcement agencies will increase impaired driving enforcement during the Halloween season as part of a statewide safety campaign running through Nov. 1.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, state police, Highway Safety Network and Ferguson Township Police Department are participating in the effort.
According to PennDOT, Pennsylvania recorded 25 alcohol-related crashes on Halloween in 2025, resulting in 19 injuries. Two additional drug-related crashes resulted in three injuries.
Law enforcement agencies will conduct additional patrols targeting motorists impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs and prescription medications.
Officials are encouraging those attending Halloween celebrations to arrange sober transportation, monitor their alcohol consumption and intervene if someone attempts to drive while impaired.
Authorities also warned that DUI convictions can result in thousands of dollars in fines and court costs, possible jail time, lost wages and employment difficulties.
