HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency is encouraging college-bound students and families to complete the 2027-28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which became available Oct. 1.
The FAFSA is used to determine eligibility for financial assistance including Federal Pell Grants, PA State Grants, scholarships, institutional aid and federal student loans.
PHEAA and the Pennsylvania Department of Education will hold a free FAFSA Completion Workshop Oct. 8 at PHEAA headquarters, 1200 N. Seventh St., Harrisburg. PHEAA staff will provide assistance during 30-minute sessions beginning at 5:30, 6 and 6:30 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is recommended because a limited number of laptops will be available. Students and other contributors, including parents and spouses, should create their StudentAid.gov accounts before attending.
An informational fair will also provide information about state financial aid programs and area colleges.
