LEWISTOWN -- Motorists in Mifflin and Juniata counties can expect maintenance crews on a number of area roads next week as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation conducts bridge work, pavement maintenance, patching and other projects.
In Mifflin County, bridge maintenance and cleaning is scheduled Monday through Wednesday on Route 322 westbound at the bridge spanning Woodland Road and Tea Creek, about one mile north of Reedsville in Brown Township. The work will take place on or beyond the shoulder and is expected to have little, if any, impact on traffic.
Joint and crack sealing and hot pour mastic work is scheduled Monday on Route 22 between Route 747 and Lucy Furnace Road in Wayne Township. Crews will also perform the work on Route 22 between Substation Road in Wayne Township and the Harrisburg-Selinsgrove interchange throughout the week.
Flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours and may use pilot vehicles. PennDOT said motorists encountering a vehicle displaying a "Pilot Car Follow Me" sign should remain behind it until it leaves the roadway.
Patching is scheduled Wednesday through Friday on Route 322 westbound at the Milroy exit in Brown Township. The work will take place on or beyond the shoulder and is expected to have minimal traffic impact.
Shoulder maintenance will take place throughout the week on Route 103, beginning about a quarter-mile north of Pleasant View Road and continuing south for approximately two miles in Bratton Township; all of Route 3007, Wakefield Road, in Oliver Township; and Route 3009, Furnace Road, between Market Street and Route 22 in McVeytown. Flaggers will control traffic during daylight hours.
PennDOT will also perform side dozing on Route 322 eastbound and westbound between the Centre-Mifflin County line and the Belleville-Reedsville exit throughout the week. Single-lane closures will be in place during the work.
In Juniata County, bridge maintenance and cleaning is scheduled throughout the week on Route 2015, Swailes Road, in Fayette Township. The work will occur on or beyond the shoulder and is expected to have little impact on traffic.
Crews will perform joint and crack sealing and hot pour mastic work Monday through Wednesday along Route 4002, Licking Creek Drive. The same work is scheduled Thursday and Friday on Route 4001, Muddy Run Road, in Milford Township.
Patching is also planned throughout the week on Route 3021, McKinley Road, between Route 3016, Noss Road, and Route 3014, McCoysville Road, in Tuscarora Township.
Flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours for the Juniata County pavement work, and pilot vehicles may be used.
PennDOT said the schedule is subject to change because of weather, emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances.
