UNIVERSITY PARK -- The Nittany Valley Symphony will continue its 60th anniversary season Nov. 12 with "From the New World," a concert featuring works by composers Sergei Rachmaninoff and Antonín Dvořák.
The performance is part of the symphony's celebration of America's 250th anniversary and will highlight two composers whose music was influenced by their experiences in the United States.

The orchestra also will perform all four movements of Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World." Written during the composer’s time in the United States, the symphony incorporates influences from African American spirituals and Native American musical traditions.
