UNIVERSITY PARK -- Nittany Ballet will celebrate 30 years of its annual holiday production of "The Nutcracker" with two performances in December at Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium.

Dancers from the Performing Arts School of Central Pennsylvania will present the holiday classic at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.

Tickets are now on sale for the production, which has been a central Pennsylvania holiday tradition for three decades.

The ballet follows Clara on a Christmas Eve adventure that begins with a battle between toy soldiers and mischievous mice. After the Nutcracker defeats the Mouse King, Clara journeys to the Nutcracker Kingdom, where she encounters the Sugarplum Fairy, dancing snowflakes and other characters.

The production also features the mysterious Drosselmeyer, whose gift sets Clara’s adventure in motion.

Tickets cost $42 for adults, $36 for those older than 55 and $31 for students and children 18 and younger.

Tickets may be purchased by calling the Arts Ticket Center at (814) 863-0255 or visiting the Eisenhower Auditorium box office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Purchasing by phone or in person avoids a $4 ticket fee.

Eisenhower Auditorium is certified as a sensory-friendly venue through KultureCity, offering accommodations for guests with sensory sensitivities and invisible disabilities, including autism, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and dementia.
