Juniata County is ready for Election Day ballots

By Sierra Bolger 4 min read

MIFFLINTOWN -- Election Day is right around the corner and Juniata County Election Director Eva Weyrich wanted to provide the community with some updates and important dates to keep in mind as we get closer to the big day.

Weyrich was happy to announce that on Sept. 25, the board of elections held a ceremony to induct 30 voters into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame. All inductees have voted in 50 consecutive general elections in order to qualify.

"Thirty is a significant number for our small county," said Weyrich.

More recently, the Elections Systems Software company was in the elections office to conduct accuracy testing on the voting equipment and Weyrich assured the commissioners that everything looked great and they are ready to go for election day

Weyrich also shared that there are currently 14,087 registered voters in Juniata County, and 1,010 ballots have already been issued. So, a total of 46 have been returned.

Monday, Oct. 19, is the last day to register to vote with Oct. 27 being the last day to apply for mail-in or absentee ballot until 5 p.m. Weyrich noted that only the elections office will be open until 5 p.m. that day.

Election day, Tuesday, Nov. 3 polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by the election office at the courthouse by 8 p.m. in order to be counted.
