LEWISTOWN -- Granville Township's zoning hearing board met Thursday night to hear data center representatives' appeal of Granville officials' earlier denial of a zoning permit.

Data center representatives attended the meeting solely to provide evidence and information for the appeal.

No arguments were heard, and no decisions were made at this hearing.

Data center representatives will have time to submit briefs at a future date.

However, Granville Township zoning board solicitor Jeff Stover argued for a continuance to a later date because the Sunshine Act was not followed, noting that dozens of meeting attendees stood outside and could not hear.

The lawyer for the data center developers, Shawn Gallinger, objected, but the board decided to set a new date and time to accommodate the public.

It was also confirmed that the developers withdrew from their scheduled hearing before Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Aaron Gingrich, which had been set for Friday, Oct. 9.

A new zoning hearing was scheduled for Monday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. at the Granville Fire Co. Event Center, 105 Malta Drive, to accommodate the anticipated crowd.
