HARRISBURG -- Three people were killed in crashes investigated by Pennsylvania State Police during the four-day Labor Day holiday weekend, while troopers made 450 arrests for driving under the influence.
State police investigated 790 crashes from Sept. 4 through Sept. 7, including 152 injury-related crashes. Three crashes were fatal, resulting in three deaths, according to statistics released by the agency.
Impaired driving was listed as a factor in 67 crashes, although none of those crashes was fatal.
The number of crashes increased from the 750 investigated by state police during the 2025 Labor Day weekend. However, fatalities declined. Seven people were killed in seven crashes during the holiday period last year.
Injury-related crashes increased from 129 last year to 152 this year, while DUI-related crashes rose from 61 to 67.
Troopers made 450 DUI arrests during this year’s enforcement period, down from 529 in 2025.
State police also issued 25,402 citations over the four-day period. Those included 6,447 citations for speeding, 770 for seat belt violations and 84 for child safety seat violations. Another 18,101 citations were issued for other violations.
During the 2025 Labor Day weekend, troopers issued 6,961 speeding citations, 826 seat belt citations and 152 child safety seat citations.
State police noted the figures include only crashes and enforcement handled by PSP and do not include incidents investigated by municipal or other law enforcement agencies.
The statistics are preliminary and could change as additional data is finalized.
