Things to Do: Fall festivals are on the schedule

LEWISTOWN - That fall chill is in the air as summer has become yet a far memory. The change of seasons has also been helped along by the plethora of festivals - fall, arts and crafts, harvest and kettle to name a few varieties.

There are a number of them on the calendar this weekend. Here's a glance:

Newton/Wayne Turkey Supper

The Newton/Wayne Volunteer Fire Co., located at 9 Market St., Newton Hamilton, is hosting a turkey supper on Saturday (and again on Nov. 7). Call (814) 542-8968, starting at 8 a.m. the day of the supper to place your orders. Pickup starts at 1 p.m. Meals are takeout only. The cost is $14 for a regular meal and $15 for all white meat.

Fall festivals and shows

41st Annual Harvest Fest, noon to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Mifflin County Youth Park, 110 W. Logan St., Reedsville. Fun fall tradition for entire family. Two-day event features 60-plus crafters/exhibitors, mouth-watering food vendors including Milroy Lions Chicken BBQ, musical entertainment, carriage rides, demonstrations, a children's area and much more. Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days Seventh Annual Kettle Fest, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, 6351 Route 75 South, East Waterford.

There will be an indoor/outdoor flea market and crafts. Kettle soups available, starting at 10 a.m.. All food is made in a kettle including chicken corn soup, ham and bean soup, beef vegetable soup, chili, scrapple and kettle potato chips.

Church Hill UMC Fall Arts and Crafts Show, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, 199 Woodland Circle, Reedsville.

Annual All-Chevy Car Show at Regester Chevrolet, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 73 E. Main St., Thompsontown. See Chevrolet cars and trucks from generations past. Classic vehicles, music, fun for all ages.

50th Annual Juniata Christian School Benefit Auction

Don't miss the 50th Annual Juniata Christian School Benefit Auction, Friday and Saturday at Lost Creek Community Park, 20 Main St., McAlisterville. You'll find two exciting days packed with live and silent auctions, handmade quilts, theme baskets, gift certificates, delicious food, kids' activities and other surprises.
