Things to do: Apple festival slated for Reedsville this weekend

REEDSVILLE - Everything is coming up apples at this year's 10th Annual Reedsville Apple Fest.

The event, to be held at Bender Park on Tony Street in Reedsville from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, will offer delicious food and treats, merchandise vendors, famous apple butter boil, fresh apple dumplings, apple pie baking contest, live music throughout the day, children's activities and a door decorating contest that is America 250-themed.

Fourth Annual Bark in the Park

If dogs are more your thing, perhaps try the Fourth Annual Bark in the Park at the Lions Club Park in Port Royal on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. . Dress your pet for the pet parade. There will be plenty of vendors, great food, nail trims for the pups, Chinese auction, DJ onsite spinning some tunes, Doggy Fashion Show (registration required), photo ops and more. All dogs must be up to date on rabies vaccinations and on a leash for the event.

Museum Day

Museum Day is Sunday, Take the day, pick a few museums in Mifflin, Juniata and Huntingdon counties and explore the amazing history and heritage here in the Juniata River Valley. Most locations are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

48th Annual Goose Day Road Rally

On Saturday, get ready for a crazy ride as participants are given clues to multiple locations in Mifflin County. The team completing the rally with the fewest miles not only wins but can plan next year's rally. Registration is 8 to 9 a.m. Sunday at Sal-lee's Dream Restaurant, 8585 Route 522 South, Lewistown. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for ages 5 to 12 and free for under 5. Visit Facebook for more information.

Fifth Annual Day of Hope

Come out for the Fifth Annual Day of Hope, sponsored by Hungry Run Distillery and Downtown OIP and Grille in Lewistown, on Saturday at Hungry Run Distillery, 10 Ridens Road, Lewistown. They will have a basket raffle, special items raffle and cash raffle. Live music by Mike Brill. Food trucks from LD2 Catering and Twin Kiss Milkshakes as well as activities for the kids with a special visit from 1 to 3 p.m. of a bunny petting zoo. They will also be hosting a car cruise-in. There will be a $100 cash prize to the crowd favorite ride. This event is free to enter and open to the public. Proceeds to benefit the local chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
