Juniata Christian School family receives first $1,000 award

McALISTERVILLE -- A scholarship created by a local family in memory of their infant son has awarded its first tuition assistance to a Juniata Christian School family.
Joseph and Holly Tusing of McAlisterville established the Cullen Tusing Scholarship Fund in memory of their son, Cullen, who died in October 2013 from anencephaly, a congenital brain condition.
The $1,000 scholarship is intended to help make tuition at Juniata Christian School more affordable for families seeking a Christ-centered education.
"His time on earth was brief, but Cullen's life left a lasting impact on many near and far," Holly Tusing said.
The scholarship's first recipients are Cody and Gina Martin of Port Royal, who operate a dairy farm. Their three children -- Shayla, Easton and Brooks -- attend Juniata Christian School and are in fourth grade, third grade and kindergarten, respectively.
"We hope that this scholarship not only eases a financial burden but also serves as a reminder of God's grace and provision in all things," Tusing said.
The Cullen Tusing Scholarship will be offered annually to new and returning families enrolled at Juniata Christian School.
