Man charged after alleged threats
LEWISTOWN -- Whitney W. Heaps, 42, address unknown, was charged with terroristic threats and simple assault following an incident at 12:36 a.m. Sept. 20, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said Heaps allegedly threatened a woman who had allowed him to stay temporarily and later attempted to pry open a locked door after the woman locked him out and called police. He was taken into custody.
Traffic stop leads to DUI arrest
LEWISTOWN -- Breydon R. Kibe, 21, of Lewistown, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop at 11:08 p.m. Sept. 20, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said officers stopped Kibe after observing a vehicle run a red light. According to police, Kibe told officers he had recently used marijuana and showed signs of impairment.
Police also reported that Kibe's license was suspended and the vehicle had expired registration and no insurance. Officers reported finding open beer containers in the vehicle.
Police said a subsequent search conducted under a warrant yielded about 14 grams of marijuana and prescription oral pouches bearing another person's name. Additional charges are pending toxicology results.
Man arrested on outstanding warrant
LEWISTOWN -- Michael A. Brooks, 47, of Lewistown, was arrested on an outstanding felony retail theft warrant after police responded to a reported arson at 11:32 p.m. Sept. 20, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said officers found no evidence of an arson after responding to the residence. During the investigation, officers determined Brooks had an outstanding warrant and took him into custody.
Police investigate hit-and-run
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a hit-and-run that damaged a parked vehicle in the 200 block of West Third Street at 10:05 a.m. Sept. 21, according to a police release issued Thursday.
Police said the vehicle's driver-side mirror was shattered. Officers requested surveillance footage from a nearby location as part of the investigation.
Child found on Valley Street
LEWISTOWN -- A 3-year-old child was found wandering on Valley Street at 8:29 p.m. Sept. 21, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said the child's mother reported the child had put on a costume to go trick-or-treating and left the residence without her knowledge while she was doing laundry.
Police made a report to ChildLine. No charges are being filed.
Woman cited for public drunkenness
LEWISTOWN -- Ashley L. Miller-Spriggs, 39, of Lewistown, was cited for public drunkenness following an incident at 8:29 p.m. Sept. 23, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said Miller-Spriggs told officers she had used methamphetamine and requested medical assistance. She was transported by ambulance.
