Search warrant executed at vape shop
LEWISTOWN -- The Lewistown Police Department executed a search warrant at Lewistown Tobacco and Vape at 10:21 a.m. on Sept. 3 after controlled buys and complaints confirmed the store was selling raw marijuana, according to a release issued on Thursday. A 23 year old employee from Alexandria, Va., and the West Virginia owner both claimed they didn't know the products were illegal. Officers seized several pounds of marijuana, THC edibles, Delta 8 items, boxes of drugs and thousands in cash. Charges are pending.
Runaway juvenile located at convenience store
LEWISTOWN -- At 12:32 p.m. on Sept, 3, Lewistown Police Department officers located a 16 year old runaway from Virginia inside the restroom at Sheetz in Lewistown. Police confirmed the juvenile was listed as missing and released them to a family member from Mount Union, according to a release issued on Thursday.
E-bike rider assaulted on South Main Street
LEWISTOWN -- The Lewistown Police Department responded at 3:19 p.m. on Sept. 3 to a report that Seth M. Hoar, 34, of Lewistown, confronted a female riding an e bike, yelled at her, pushed her and removed items from her bike, taking a poncho, according to a release issued on Thursday. Witnesses and cell phone video supported her account. Hoar admitted taking the poncho. He was charged with corruption of minors, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking and harassment.
DUI arrest after car wash incident
LEWISTOWN -- On Sept. 3 at 8:16 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle after it reportedly struck equipment at a Lewistown car wash and was seen swerving through the borough, according to a release issued on Thursday. The 20 year old Lewistown driver admitted to smoking marijuana just before driving. DUI charges are pending toxicology results.
Fight involving 10 to 12 people dispersed
LEWISTOWN -- A fight near Dorcas and Chestnut streets in Lewistown at 10:38 p.m. on Sept. 3 was broken up by Lewistown Police Department officers, according to a release issued on Thursday. Police determined Devick Failor, 27, of Lewistown, grabbed a female's arm, and Zachary Karschner, 23, of Lewistown, confronted Failor and attempted to throw him, causing Failor to fall into a fence. Both were cited for harassment.
Retail theft reported at Lewistown grocer
LEWISTOWN -- A retail theft was reported at 8:32 a.m. on Sept. 4 at Giant Food Store in Lewistown after a male known to officers walked out with an energy drink without paying, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Charges are pending.
Heimbach arrested on outstanding warrant
LEWISTOWN -- At 11:35 p.m. on Sept. 4, Lewistown Police Department officers monitoring traffic on North Juniata Street in Lewistown saw Nick A. Heimbach, 55, of Lewistown, who had an active arrest warrant related to a drug DUI case, according to a release that was issued on Thursday. He was stopped on West Fourth Street and taken into custody without incident.
Mail theft complaints on Valley Street
LEWISTOWN -- The Lewistown Police Department received a report at 11:32 a.m. on Sept. 5 that a recently delivered envelope had been ripped open and a $40 gift card stolen, according to a release issued on Thursday. A second complaint on Sept. 9 involved two stolen lottery tickets valued at $15. No video evidence has been provided.
Henry arrested during foot patrol
LEWISTOWN -- While canvassing Shaw Avenue at 4:38 a.m. on Sept. 6 for an earlier attempted homicide incident, officers encountered Timothy A. Henry Jr., 22, of Brown Township, who had multiple active warrants, according to a release issued on Thursday. Henry was taken into custody and lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.
Convenience store theft suspect identified; felony charges pending
LEWISTOWN -- At 10:54 a.m. on Sept. 6, Lewistown Sheetz employees reported a male suspect stole a container of milk and a candy bar, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers recognized the 47 year old Lewistown man, who has seven prior retail theft convictions, making this offense a felony and was not identified. Police are awaiting surveillance video.
Juveniles allegedly chased by man with knife
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown Police Department officers responded at 4:52 p.m. on Sept. 6 to the River Access Road walking path after a homeless male reportedly chased four juveniles while brandishing a knife and yelling homosexual slurs, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers located a tent and a knife matching the description. James E. Welshonse, 35, with no fixed address, was charged with simple assault by physical menace, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Caller reports shooting; no evidence found
LEWISTOWN -- At 10:31 p.m. on Sept. 6, Lewistown Police Department officers responded to East Fourth Street in Lewistown after a caller claimed two subjects had a gun and an upstairs neighbor was shot, according to a release issued on Thursday. A sweep by police found no weapons and no evidence of gunfire. The caller later said demons told him people were trying to break in. He was transported for a mental health evaluation.
Bowermaster arrested for alleged PFA violation
LEWISTOWN -- At 12:59 a.m. on Sept. 8, Lewistown Police Department officers responded to Valley Street for an alleged PFA violation involving Clyde R. Bowermaster Jr., 50, of Lewistown, according to a released issued on Thursday. The protected female showed text messages Bowermaster sent on Sept. 1 to 7. Bowermaster admitted sending them and was arrested. A marijuana pipe was found hidden in his shorts at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown.
Crack cocaine found during traffic stop
LEWISTOWN -- At 3:27 p.m. on Sept. 8, Lewistown Police Department officers stopped a vehicle leaving a residence known for drug activity, according to a release issued on Thursday. The driver, Jessica M. Earnest, 35, of Lewistown, was found in possession of crack cocaine and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Marijuana vape concentrate seized during stop
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown Police Department officers stopped a vehicle at 6:17 p.m. on Sept. 8 on Valley Street at Pine Street in Lewistown after learning it was pending suspension due to cancelled insurance, according to a release issued on Thursday. The driver, Haley M. Wagner, 24, with no fixed address, admitted to having a marijuana vape concentrate with identifying information removed. Wagner was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
