PennDOT seeks public feedback on road work, maintenance

HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is seeking public feedback on its construction and maintenance services through an online survey available through Oct. 20.

The 17-question survey asks residents about their experiences with PennDOT’s construction and maintenance activities, how they receive information about road conditions and projects, and how often the department meets or exceeds their expectations.

Participants are also asked about their experiences reporting concerns to PennDOT and whether they use 511PA traveler information services.

PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said the annual survey helps the department identify areas where it is meeting expectations and where improvements may be needed.

"The survey also helps us find areas where we can educate the public while learning about how the public receives road information," Carroll said.

PennDOT reported that from January through August, more than 2,600 miles of roadway were improved statewide and work advanced on 373 state and local bridges.

The department is also moving forward with 79 "Rapid Deployment Projects" as part of a $775 million Motor License Fund investment planned over 18 months.

Since the beginning of the Shapiro administration, PennDOT reports that more than 21,800 miles of roadway have been improved and work has advanced on nearly 2,000 state and local bridges.

The survey is available online through Oct. 20.
