LEWISTOWN -- PennDOT crews will conduct bridge work, crack sealing, pipe maintenance and shoulder work across several Mifflin County roads during the week of Sept. 14, with additional maintenance scheduled in Juniata County.
In Mifflin County, bridge maintenance is scheduled Monday through Friday on Route 22 between Wakefield Road in Oliver Township and the State College exit, where single-lane closures will be in place. Crews will also work on the Route 322 bridge over Laurel Creek, about two miles northwest of Milroy in Armagh Township. That work is expected to have little or no impact on traffic.
Crack sealing and hot-pour mastic work is scheduled Monday through Friday at several locations, including Route 22 between Substation Road in Wayne Township and Jack's Mountain Road in Oliver Township; Route 103 from John Street in Bratton Township south approximately 15 miles to the Huntingdon County line; Routes 522 and 747 at their intersections with Route 22 in Wayne Township; Front Street in Newton Hamilton; Newton Road between Route 22 and Front Street; and all of Bridge Street.
Flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours at those locations and may use pilot vehicles.
Crews will also replace and clean pipes along Locke Mills Road near the Honey Creek bridge in Armagh Township. Shoulder maintenance is scheduled along Route 322 between the Centre County line and the Belleville-Reedsville exit, with single-lane closures expected.
In Juniata County, bridge maintenance is scheduled Monday through Thursday on Route 3008 at a bridge over a tributary of Tuscarora Creek about a mile southwest of Port Royal in Turbett Township. The work is expected to have minimal traffic impact.
Crack sealing is scheduled Monday on Route 333 between Butcher Shop Road in Turbett Township and Colyer Street in Thompsontown; Tuesday and Wednesday along Lions Club Park Road in Milford Township; and Wednesday through Friday along Licking Creek Drive/Licking Street. Flaggers and pilot vehicles may be used.
Patching is scheduled Monday on Spruce Hill Road between Creek and Matamoras roads in Spruce Hill Township. Crews will then patch Groninger Valley Road between Burd Hollow Road and Spruce Hill Road in Beale Township from Tuesday through Friday.
PennDOT said the maintenance schedule is subject to change because of weather, emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances. Motorists are urged to use caution and watch for workers and changing traffic patterns in work zones.
