Man with warrant taken into custody after foot pursuit
LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown man was taken into custody after police said he attempted to flee from an officer Aug. 27.
According to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday, a narcotics investigator located Jeremy S. Dallmeyer, 40, address unknown, at 1:36 p.m. Police said Dallmeyer had an active warrant for failure to appear in connection with an obscene materials charge.
Police said Dallmeyer attempted to flee but tripped over a grill. Officers reported finding methamphetamine, pipes and a broken light bulb that Dallmeyer told police he used to smoke methamphetamine.
Dallmeyer was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown. Police said additional charges were filed.
Man cited following reported incident involving dog
LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown man was cited for animal cruelty after a witness reported seeing him kick a dog Aug. 27, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said the witness reported at 4:46 p.m. seeing Richard M. Babulsky, 66, kick his dog, causing the animal to be lifted about 3 feet into the air.
Officers located Babulsky and reported finding open containers of beer. Police said Babulsky denied kicking the dog. The witness provided a different account and agreed to testify, according to the release.
Babulsky was cited for animal cruelty.
Police investigate reported $1,100 rental scam
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown police are investigating after a Milroy resident reported losing $1,100 in an alleged rental scam Aug. 28.
According to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday, the resident reported at 2:53 p.m. that they had sent $1,100 in connection with an online listing for an apartment in Milroy.
Police said the listing was fraudulent and the person who received the money blocked the resident after receiving the payment.
Police seek e-bike riders after reported traffic incidents
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown police are working to identify young people who reportedly rode e-bikes into traffic and fled from officers Aug. 28.
According to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday, police received a report at 10:42 p.m. that several young people were riding e-bikes into traffic, swerving toward vehicles and performing doughnuts.
Police said the riders fled at a high rate of speed when marked police vehicles approached. Officers obtained video of the incident and are working to identify those involved.
Man cited following reported disturbance
LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown man was cited following a reported disturbance early Aug. 29, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said officers encountered Angel De Jesus Cabanillas, 23, at 12:20 a.m. and determined he was intoxicated. Police said Cabanillas reportedly had attempted to strike a woman with a bottle.
According to police, Cabanillas kicked doors, yelled across the street and told officers he wanted to go to jail.
He was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
Three-wheeled motorcycle strikes porch; driver injured
LEWISTOWN -- The driver of a three-wheeled motorcycle was injured after the vehicle left the roadway and struck a porch Aug. 30, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said the unidentified driver lost control near West Sixth Street and Crystal Springs Avenue at 1:39 p.m., crossed the roadway, went through a fence and struck a porch.
The driver suffered facial lacerations and was suspected of having internal injuries, according to police.
Police await toxicology results after traffic stop
LEWISTOWN -- Charges are pending toxicology results following an Aug. 30 traffic stop in Lewistown, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said a driver struck a handicapped parking sign before driving through the Burger King property. Officers stopped the vehicle at 7:41 p.m.
According to police, Bradley Eugene Metzger initially identified himself as Barry Metzger, whom police later determined was deceased. Officers subsequently identified the driver as Bradley Metzger.
Police said Metzger had multiple active warrants and a suspended driver’s license.
Police investigate vehicle damaged by brick
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown police are investigating after a vehicle on Spring Street was damaged by a brick Aug. 30.
According to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday, officers responded at 7:52 p.m. after receiving a report that a brick had been thrown at the vehicle.
The vehicle’s owner told police they suspected a former partner who was the subject of an active protection-from-abuse order.
Police recovered a latent fingerprint and said the investigation is continuing.
Woman, newborn located after missing-person report
LEWISTOWN -- A woman and her newborn were located safely at a Lewistown hotel after police received a missing-person report Aug. 30, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said the unidentified woman was reported missing at 10:21 p.m. after going to meet the child’s father, whom police described as having a history of domestic abuse.
Officers located the woman and child at the Super 8. Police also reported possible bail violations in connection with the incident.
Charges pending following suspected impaired driving investigation
LEWISTOWN -- Charges are pending toxicology results following a suspected impaired driving investigation Aug. 31 near Twin Kiss on South Walnut Street, according to a Lewistown Police Department release issued Thursday.
Police said the unidentified 34-year-old Mifflintown man was driving a vehicle with expired registration and inspection when officers encountered him at 12:37 p.m.
Officers reported observing signs of possible drug impairment. Police said the driver acknowledged using marijuana, and field testing indicated possible impairment by additional substances.
