Greetings to all readers this early morning. We’re having nice sunny days these last few days. People are busy picking produce, going to the auction and/or to their own stands.
Ben and Annie Peachey had the West youth group last evening to pick pumpkins and also their cousins from the East youth folks too.
So, it seems everyone is staying busy. We’re all glad for Noah and Fannie Peachey and family. They are now getting a new house. With a family of 11 children, ages ranging from almost 16 years old to a 10-week-old baby, Fannie. People helped them to move out on Friday; then on Monday, the old house was torn down and burned. They want to build the new house on the same spot where the old one was. The block-laying “work bee” is today. Noah’s parents, Gideon and Linda from Big Valley, and Noah and Barbara Kanagy came out to Ohio on Monday midafternoon. It was a surprise for the Kanagy’s Bennies, Jacob and Mary, because they didn’t know that Noah’s were coming. Barbara had sent them a letter, but they didn’t get it before they came.
North Church district was held at Andrew J. and Esther Swarey’s on Sunday. West Church was at Norman and Ezra Swarey. Enos and Sarah Peachey are doctoring down in Florida because Enos has much trouble with back pain. Simon and Lomie Peachey went with them. I’m not sure when they’ll be coming home.
Yesterday I went to my cousins Elizabeth and Katie Swarey for the day. John, Julia and daughter Andy Kanagy Larina went to help Ben and Annie in the forenoon and also checked to see how Jacob R. and Esther Peachey’s two oldest boys are, as they had been quite sick with the flu (a summer complaint). One of them had a nosebleed and even vomited blood, but they are on the mend again, much to be thankful for.
Births: Ivan Jacob Peachey was born to Jonas R. and Sarah Peachey on the 17th of Aug. Grandparents are Bennie and Rachel Peachey and Jacob S. Sr. and Esther Peachey. Great-grands are Josiah and Annie Peachey, Benjamin D. and Sarah Peachey, Mrs. Urie Nancy Peachey, and Mrs. Norman Salinda Byler.
Benjamin D. Peachey was born to Abram Z. Jr. and Katie Peachey on the 23rd of Aug. First-time grandparents are Bennie S. and Elizabeth Kanagy; new aunts and uncles are Abram Z. Sr. and Esther Peachey, great-grands are Noah S and Barbara Kanagy, Benjamin D. and Sarah Peachey and Mrs. David J. Peachey.
Reuben Swarey was born to (Joe) David J. and Martha Swarey on the 22nd of Aug. Grandparents are Joe and Mattie Swarey and David Jr. and Mary Swarey. Great-grands are Benjamin D and Sarah Peachey and Mr. Levi R. Kanagy. All these babies are firstborn.
Well, I should move on; I have quite a bit of sewing orders on the list: pants and coats. Gideon and Annie Peachey’s daughter, Lena, 21, is planning to teach school at Little Scioto School. She just left, as they want to clean the schoolhouse today, and her cousin’s girl will help. Gertie also wanted to go, but they are busy at home helping David. Nancy too.
