Greetings to all readers from southern Ohio this morning at 5:45 a.m. We had rainy weather last week and over Sunday, too. God’s promise is true – as we saw several beautiful rainbows too. Our church was held at Jacob W. and Sadie Yoder’s on Sunday, and South District was at Jacob A. and Sarah Swareys.
There were visitors here from Big Valley and Juniata County, too. Brother Korie Yoder and wife Annie came out Thursday night with Henry and Anna (Yoder), Kanagy and family of five girls: Linda, Julia, twins Rachel and Rhoda, and baby Barbara, nine months old. They were all here at Gideon and Annie Peachey’s on Saturday for lunch, for a corn roast and the trimmings. David and Nancy Yoder and girls Dorothy, Annie, and Ivy Linda, five weeks old, were also here. It was interesting to see Henry and the girls; my; the twins, look alike. I’d have to learn which is which because I don’t see them very often.
Any and Mary Ann Yoder, Joe and Mary Yoder and baby Sadie Jonas and Martha Kanagy from Big Valley were in our church. Hope I didn’t miss anyone. The others were at Jacob and Sarah Kanagys, Henry and Anna Kanagy and girls Tobias and Lena Kanagy, brother Kories – Aquilla and Fannie Kanagy, Jonathan and Julia Peachey and Mrs. Stephen Kanagy Lizzie. I forgot to mention that Aquilla and Fannie also came out Thursday night with Henrys and Kories.
It was a surprise for me Friday morning to see Korie and Annie, as they had bedding along to sleep out in Gideon and Annie’s furniture store. The Juniata people were also in the south district church. Gideon and Kories were then at John U. and Lizzie Peacheys for supper. I stayed at Jacob Yoder’s for supper, as Andy and Mary Ann Yoder were there. They used to be my school parents and board members years ago. Many changes since then; we’re all getting older day by day. I did wish to get to see Cousin Stephen Lizzie Kanagy.
Yesterday, David and Nancy Yoder were down at her parents’ for the day with their three little girls. I was busy sewing a teenager’s coat and finished it last evening after supper. I hope to drop it off at David S. Peachey’s this morning when going to my cousins for the day. I’m anxious to go and hear about their Pennsylvania trip last week with John and Julia Swarey. \
Sorry to hear of the people having measles in PA. Suppose the germ will come out to Ohio too. David J. and Mary Swarey had the Swarey side Christmas dinner on Friday. But Reuben Swarey Fannie stayed at home with her aged father, Stephen P. Kanagy. He’s not well and needs to be watched so that he won’t walk off. I was surprised no one could take care of him and give Fannie a break too. Well, it’s time I moved on to get a little breakfast and get ready for the day.
Memories go back 51 years to when the feta accident claimed the life of my dear uncle Levi H. Peachey. Wish I could remember better how he looked at that time they lived in Juniata county Pennsylvania.
Please let’s not forget the widows, sad and lonely, Mollie and Sadie Peachey, and all the rest. Thanks, Sadie, for your interesting letter. I hope to write soon.
