HARRISBURG -- An Indiana County man faces felony charges after investigators allegedly traced the sharing of child sexual abuse material to his residence, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.
Attorney General Dave Sunday announced Monday that Yao Wang, 43, has been charged with felony counts of disseminating and possessing child sexual abuse material, as well as unlawful use of a communications facility.
Wang was arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail. As conditions of his release, he was required to surrender his passport and is prohibited from having contact with minors or using the internet.
According to the Attorney General's Office, agents with its Child Predator Section discovered child sexual abuse material being shared from a residence in Indiana earlier this year.
Investigators subsequently executed a search warrant at a residence on South 11th Street and allegedly traced the file sharing to Wang. Authorities said investigators also found at least 20 files containing child sexual abuse material on his computer.
"Those who distribute these vile materials are repeatedly abusing and exploiting children and will be held fully accountable," Sunday said. "I commend my team for a proactive investigation that led to this defendant as the source of the illegal sharing."
Deputy Attorney General Alison Bragle of the Child Predator Section will prosecute the case.
The charges are allegations, and Wang is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
