LEWISTOWN -- The Mifflin County School District Board of Directors announced during the Committee of the Whole meeting on Thursday that the assistant to the coordinator of transportation position is open, along with other business.
The position is currently posted, and the district could hire a candidate as early as Thursday, Sept. 4, or as late as the board's October voting meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Directors also recommended approval of the following drivers:
•Julia A. Snyder of Krise Transportation, effective Sept. 1;
•Rhonda E. Ruble of BGJ Enterprises LLC, effective Sept. 4;
•Thomas H. Cox Jr. of Krise Transportation, effective Sept. 4;
•Heather M. Paules of Krise Transportation, effective Sept. 9;
•Michael D. Mowery of BGJ Enterprises LLC, effective Sept. 14;
•Kelly D. Peters of BGJ Enterprises LLC, effective Sept. 14;
•Brad L. Shotzberger of BGJ Enterprises LLC, effective Sept. 9.
Board action
Later directors recommended:
•Approval of a $500 stipend for David M. Portzline for supervision of one teacher at the Pre-K Counts classroom at Hide-N-Seek Christian Daycare for the 2026-27 school year, in order for this teacher to acquire their Level II certification. The daycare will pay the stipend;
•Approval for the Mifflin County High School Technology Student Association's participation in the PATSA State Conference at Seven Springs Mountain Resort from April 14, 2027 through April 17, 2027. Students would depart mid-day on April 14 and return on April 18 around 4 p.m.
•Approval of the agreement for the use of school facilities as mass care centers during disasters between the Mifflin County School District and the Mifflin County Emergency Management Agency for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Mifflin County School District Board of Directors will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, for its regular voting meeting at the district's administration building in Lewistown.
