LEWISTOWN -- Goose Day is known for its traditions, but this year the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology in Lewistown hopes the annual celebration will also spotlight its students and programs.
Having already announced Community Day, with local organizations such as the Juniata County Prevention Board, American Heart Association and Career and Technical Student Organizations planning activities, the Academy also announced a car show from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 26, as well as a roasted goose dinner from 10 a.m. to noon.
The events were discussed during the Operating Committee meeting on Thursday at the Academy. For the car show, cars, trucks, classics and more are eligible. Judging ends at 11 a.m., with Academy-made trophies awarded at 11:30 a.m.
The dinner, prepared by the culinary arts class, includes homemade coleslaw, dinner roll and a full goose dinner with all the trimmings: roast goose with cranberry citrus jus, goose fat smashed Yukon Gold potatoes and roasted garlic green beans. The cost is $18 per meal.
