REEDSVILLE – A tractor-trailer rolled onto its side along U.S. 322 near the Twin Bridges early Friday morning, temporarily closing the highway while crews removed the vehicle.
Mifflin County Regional Police Officer Gage Baumgardner said the tractor-trailer was traveling east around 4 a.m. when the driver went off the right side of the roadway, causing the truck to roll onto its side.
No injuries were reported, and Baumgardner said the tractor-trailer didn't sustain significant damage.
The crash prompted authorities to close the highway while a towing company worked to remove the truck.
"The only reason we stopped traffic, we did have to shut the highway down, but it was shut down so the towing company could come out and safely remove the truck from the roadway without having traffic come through," Baumgardner said.
Baumgardner didn't have the driver's identity and said he didn't expect the name to be released.
He also said no criminal charges were being pursued in connection with the crash.
Police didn't provide a cause for why the tractor-trailer left the roadway.
The crash was one of two incidents reported along U.S. 322 during the overnight hours. Baumgardner said a second crash occurred farther east toward the mountains and was believed to have been handled by Pennsylvania State Police. He didn't have additional information about that incident.
Pennsylvania State Police hadn't released any information about the second crash as of press time.
