Three taken to hospital after work-zone crash
MIFFLINTOWN -- Three people were taken to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital following a two-vehicle crash in a work zone on U.S. 22 in Fermanagh Township.
Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown said the crash occurred at 3:37 p.m. Aug. 18 as both vehicles were traveling east, about 953 feet west of the Juniata River fish and boat access.
Police said the left eastbound lane was closed because of prolonged construction. A 2016 Ford Explorer driven by Aaron J. Cramer, 46, of Richfield, was ahead of a 2024 Ford Transit driven by Sheerie Walker-Simmons, 45, of Bristol. Police said Walker-Simmons was following too closely and struck Cramer’s vehicle after he applied his brakes.
Cramer, Walker-Simmons and a passenger in the Transit, Damian P. Simmons, 51, of Bristol, were taken to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. Police listed the severity of their injuries as unknown.
Police said both drivers were cited.
Woman injured in Walker Township crash
MIFFLINTOWN -- A Lewistown woman was taken to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital with suspected minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash Aug. 23 in the Rutters parking lot in Walker Township.
Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown said Joshua D. Boone, 38, of Port Royal, was driving a 2017 GMC Yukon when he failed to yield to an oncoming 2012 Ford Explorer driven by Katherine Duncan, 55, of Lewistown.
Police said Boone pulled into the parking lot and then moved left toward the gas pumps as Duncan was traveling straight toward the parking lot exit. The vehicles collided at about 12:23 p.m.
Duncan was taken to the hospital. Boone was not injured. Police said Boone was cited.
