LEWISTOWN -- Derry Township supervisors offered conditional approval to local engineers for varied subdivision plans at their regular Monday meeting.
Tony Fruchtl of PennTerra Engineering discussed the Tussey Sink Road, LLC subdivision plan. This land is across from the WaWa gas station, and the Lewistown Community Health Center is also located in the area.
According to Fruchtl, the land is marked as undeveloped, and the engineering group recommends dividing it into smaller parcels.
PennTerra Engineering submitted the subdivision plan to the Mifflin County Planning Department, which approved the plans.
However, Planning Director Jim Lettiere did not sign the documents, so Derry Township officials conditionally approved the plans and asked Fruchtl to return with documents signed by Lettiere before supervisors sign the plans.
Bill Wright, of Wright Surveying, LLC, then discussed the Edward & Pamela Stimely subdivision plan, which involved subdividing the land on Bargo Lane and giving 5 acres to his daughter and son-in-law.
Supervisors conditionally approved the subdivision plan, provided Wright obtains the appropriate signatures so supervisors can sign off on the plans.
Also, Dan Taptich, of Taptich Engineering, discussed three items, including a subdivision plan for Jerry Stimely, Douglas Stimely and Jennifer Knode. The second subdivision plan was for Jason Goss and James Hurlburt, and the last was for residents Aquillas, Sallie and Michael Peachey.
Supervisors conditionally approved all presented plans until they received the appropriate signatures.
In other news, supervisors approved hiring Jason Leister as driver/laborer for the Derry Township road department.
They also approved a $100 donation to Keep PA Beautiful and a $100 donation to Mifflin County Library.
Supervisors approved a park use application for Calvary Bible Church for its community worship night on Sept. 13 at Kish Park.
The officials also approved two change orders for the new mini golf course at Kish Park.
The first was a $1,560 refund from SLC Excavating.
Park Manager Josh Garver said the change order was due to the contractor charging the township for aluminum reinforcement that was not used.
The second is a $2,000 increase for Lepley Electric to install additional receptacles in the course's light poles.
The Derry Township Board of Supervisors meets every first and third Monday of each month.
