State police investigate criminal mischief
RICHFIELD -- Pennsylvania State Police at Selinsgrove are investigating an incident of criminal mischief reported at 6:05 p.m. Aug. 11 on Ridge Road in West Perry Township, Snyder County.
Police said troopers were dispatched to 553 Ridge Road for the reported incident. A 50-year-old Richfield woman and a 37-year-old West Perry Township man were listed as victims.
The incident resulted in an estimated $140 in damage, according to the report. No additional details were provided.
Florida man killed in head-on crash
PORT MATILDA -- A Florida man was killed and two other people were injured in a head-on crash Thursday evening on Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township, Centre County, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Rockview.
Police said Mark Allen Erwin, 64, of Englewood, Florida, was driving a 2015 Toyota Sienna west in the eastbound lane while attempting to pass slower-moving traffic at about 7:50 p.m. The Sienna struck an eastbound 2022 Chevrolet Silverado head-on near the 3500 block of Port Matilda Highway, about 2,713 feet east of Hannah Furnace Road.
Erwin was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Silverado’s driver, Wilber R. Pineda Navarro, 26, of Faribault, Minnesota, and passenger Trystan J. Funez Osorio, 20, of Reisterstown, Maryland, were transported by Moshannon Valley EMS to Mount Nittany Medical Center with injuries of unknown severity.
Police said a legal blood draw for suspected DUI was conducted on Pineda Navarro. The crash remains under investigation.
