HONEY GROVE -- A detour will begin Tuesday, Aug. 11, as work gets underway to replace two bridges on Route 850 in Juniata County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The $1.8 million project includes replacing a bridge spanning a tributary of Laurel Run about one mile north of Honey Grove and another spanning Laurel Run in Tuscarora Township. PennDOT said the work will improve ride quality and the overall condition of both structures.
During construction, motorists will be detoured via Route 75 and Smokey Hollow Road (Route 3018). Residents who live between the two bridges will continue to have access to their properties via Burnt Church/Heckman Station Road, which will also remain accessible to emergency responders.
The project includes demolition of the existing bridges, construction of the replacements, approach paving, rock benching, guide rail installation, pavement markings and other miscellaneous work.
Wen-Brooke Contracting Inc., of Three Springs, is the contractor for the project. Work is expected to be completed in early November, weather permitting.
