LEWISTOWN -- Motorists can expect lane restrictions on several major routes in Mifflin County next week as PennDOT crews conduct bridge, shoulder and drainage maintenance.
On Route 322, crews will work between the Milroy and Reedsville-Belleville exits Monday through Thursday, with single-lane closures in place for side dozing and bridge maintenance. Side dozing removes excess material beneath guide rails to improve drainage.
Bridge work is also scheduled Friday on Route 22 at the bridge spanning the Lewistown Bypass in Granville Township, where single-lane closures will be in effect.
Shoulder maintenance is planned on Route 103 between McVey's Road in Wayne Township and John Street in Bratton Township throughout the week.
Crews will also perform shoulder work on Route 3017, Front Street/Ferguson Valley Road, between Market Street in Newton Hamilton and Norton Road in Wayne Township on Monday and Tuesday; Route 3019, Wayne Street/Newton Road, in Wayne Township on Tuesday and Wednesday; and Route 22 between the Huntingdon-Mifflin County line and Pine Hill Road in Wayne Township on Thursday and Friday.
Flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours for the shoulder projects, and pilot vehicles may be used.
PennDOT also has several projects scheduled in Juniata County.
Bridge maintenance will continue throughout the week on Route 2010, Black Dog Road, at a bridge over a tributary of Cocolamus Creek about two miles southeast of Cocolamus in Delaware Township. A detour is in place using Route 2015, Ehrenzeller Road; Route 2012, Leister Valley Road; and Route 2017, Evendale Hill Road.
Pipe replacement and cleaning is scheduled Monday on Route 35 between Nealman Road in Tuscarora Township and Swartz Lane in Beale Township.
Similar work will take place Tuesday through Thursday on Route 75 between the Franklin-Juniata County line in Lack Township and Gillaford Road in Spruce Hill Township, followed Friday by work on Route 3030, Spruce Hill Road, between Creek and Matamoras roads in Spruce Hill Township.
Juniata County crews will also perform side dozing Monday through Wednesday on Route 75 between Route 74 in Turbett Township and Eighth Street in Port Royal. On Thursday and Friday, that work moves to Route 3008, Groninger Valley Road, between Spruce Hill Road in Beale Township and Route 75 in Turbett Township.
Flaggers and, potentially, pilot vehicles will control traffic during those projects.
PennDOT said all work is weather dependent and schedules may change because of emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances.
