Lewistown woman charged for possession during alleged dispute
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to an alleged domestic dispute on West Third Street in Lewistown at 12:13 p.m. on July 30 between Heather R. Wagner, 39, of Lewistown, and her boyfriend, according to a release issued on Thursday. The boyfriend claimed Wagner was using his information to open loans. No evidence was provided to support this allegation; however, the boyfriend showed officers containers and a scale that had cocaine residue. Wagner gave consent to search her apartment. Police found pipes used to smoke crack cocaine, syringes and baggies containing crack. She is charged with possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia.
Police investigate hit-and-run accident involving fire hydrant
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint of a hit and run at the intersection of East Water and South Dorcas streets at 12:41 p.m. on July 30, according to a release issued on July 30. Witnesses and video surveillance indicated that the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a fire hydrant. The hydrant snapped off and was sent into a nearby parking lot. The driver continued without notifying anyone of the crash and subsequent property damage. Officers recognized the older black pickup truck with purple flames and are attempting to contact the owner. A detailed description of the driver was provided as well.
Juvenile uses grandmother's phone to charge $400 on Amazon
LEWISTOWN -- A juvenile is being charged with access device fraud after being given an old phone to use by her grandmother then using it to make $400 worth of unauthorized purchases on Amazon at 1:30 p.m. on July 30, according to a release issued on Thursday. The grandmother was only identified as a "Reedsville resident" and the juvenile as a "juvenile female on Chestnut Street."
Unconscious Decatur Township man charged with possession
LEWISTOWN -- Kirk A. Davis, 43, of Decatur Township, was found unconscious in a vehicle behind West Third Street in Lewistown at 5:36 p.m. on July 30, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. He showed signs of drug impairment and handed officers a meth pipe. He was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
Charges pending against employee for report of retail theft
LEWISTOWN -- At 1:06 p.m. on July 31, Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to a convenience store on East Walnut Street in Lewistown for a report of retail theft, according to a release issued on Thursday. Loss prevention found 120 packs of cigarettes were missing from the inventory. This was a brand of cigarette one particular employee was known to prefer. A review of surveillance cameras showed the employee taking multiple packs of cigarettes without paying for them. Officers interviewed an unidentified 57-year-old female employee, of Derry Township, who waived her Miranda rights and admitted to taking several packs of cigarettes. She did not believe the number of stolen packs was in the triple digits. The employee cited financial hardship as the reason for the thefts. Charges for this report are pending loss prevention providing documentation showing a final tally of their loss.
Allegedly impaired Lewistown man crashes e-bike on North Walnut
LEWISTOWN -- Lewistown Police Department officers believe Steven B. Haines, 39, of Lewistown, crashed his electric bike on North Walnut Street in Lewistown at 8:49 a.m. on Aug. 1 for no apparent reason, according to a release issued on Thursday. Haines appeared disoriented, was bleeding from his head, was unsteady on his feet, was nervous and appeared to be impaired. Officers searched a bag that he tried to hand to someone as Haines was now in custody for public intoxication and driving under the influence. Officers located a tube that contained a residual amount of methamphetamine powder. Haines' license was suspended for a previous DUI violation. Officers transported Haines to the hospital where he refused a blood test. Paperwork was submitted to PennDOT regarding Haines' refusal. Haines was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
