Woman cited in Shaw Avenue crash
LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown woman was cited after a two-vehicle crash on Shaw Avenue last week, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash occurred at 10:20 a.m. July 28 near 307 Shaw Ave. Police said Rebecca J. Lemin, 35, of Lewistown, was attempting to enter Shaw Avenue from a parking space when her 2014 Hyundai Sonata pulled into the path of a northbound 2025 Nissan Rogue driven by Zackary S. Zimmerman, 29, of Yeagertown.
The Hyundai struck the rear of the Rogue, sending both vehicles off the roadway. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and neither was injured.
Police cited Lemin for vehicle entering or crossing a roadway.
Traffic stop leads to marijuana charge
GRANVILLE -- A Lewistown woman is facing charges following a traffic stop in Granville Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said troopers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at 4:18 p.m. July 29 on U.S. Route 22 West. During the stop, troopers detected the odor of marijuana, and passenger Celena Murdock, 52, of Lewistown, admitted to possessing marijuana and voluntarily handed it over, police said.
Charges are pending before Magisterial District Judge 58-3-01.
No injuries sustained in crash involving horse and buggy
MIFFLINTOWN -- A horse and buggy driver escaped injury after a single-vehicle crash in Walker Township, Juniata County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
The incident occurred at 4:51 p.m. July 30 on Cedar Springs Road near Freed Road. Police said the horse became frightened after encountering a farm tractor, causing the buggy to leave the shoulder of the road. The driver was unable to guide the buggy back onto the roadway, and it rolled into a ditch.
The buggy was removed from the ditch and the roadway. No charges were filed.
Woman charged with unauthorized use of vehicle
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police charged a 27-year-old Honey Grove woman following a reported unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County.
The incident was reported at 5:35 p.m. July 30 on Middle Road. Police said a 53-year-old Honey Grove man reported the unauthorized use of his 1995 Oldsmobile. One person was charged in connection with the incident.
State police did not release additional details.
Vehicle strikes utility pole in Walker Township
MIFFLINTOWN -- A Port Royal man suffered suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash in Walker Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said Chad E. Kirk, 36, was traveling east on William Penn Highway near the PennDOT building at about 9:10 a.m. July 21 when his 2021 Toyota RAV4 drifted off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole, traveled about 200 yards through a farm field and hit a tree before coming to rest. Kirk sought medical treatment on his own and was issued a written warning.
Driver cited after rollover crash
THOMPSONTOWN -- An 18-year-old Mifflintown man was cited following a one-vehicle rollover crash in Delaware Township, Juniata County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said Colson L. Rutt was traveling north on Cocolamus Road near the intersection with Route 235 at about 9:53 a.m. Aug. 2 when he lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle rotated sideways, overturned and struck a utility pole before coming to rest. Police said it was raining heavily at the time of the crash. Rutt suffered suspected minor injuries and was cited for driving at a safe speed.
Two cited following domestic disturbance
MOUNT UNION -- Pennsylvania State Police cited two people with harassment following a domestic disturbance in Kistler Borough.
Troopers responded to Nolan Road at about 5:39 p.m. Aug. 1. Police said the disturbance involved a 28-year-old Mount Union man, a 46-year-old Mount Union Borough woman and a 68-year-old Mount Union woman. The incident was resolved at the scene, and two people were cited for harassment.
