BOGGS TOWNSHIP -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has placed a radar-controlled speed display board along Route 144 in Boggs Township, Centre County, to remind motorists to obey the posted speed limit.
The board faces southbound traffic between Governor's Road and Doe Ridge Lane, about 4¼ miles south of Snow Shoe Borough. The speed limit in the area is 55 mph.
The board uses radar to detect approaching vehicles and displays their speeds. It will remain at the location for four to six weeks.
PennDOT said speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of crashes and fatalities in Pennsylvania. Aggressive driving was listed as a factor in 61% of crashes in Centre County in 2025.
