LEWISTOWN -- The Mifflin County School District Board of Directors approved hiring six new teachers in addition to approving other personnel items at a special voting meeting Thursday.
Directors approved hiring the following teachers:
• Vimarie A. Brown as a fifth-grade teacher at Lewistown Intermediate School effective Aug. 26, at a salary of $51,283.
• Laura M. Garman as a traveling computer teacher for Lewistown Intermediate School, Strodes Mills Elementary School, and Mifflin County Middle School effective Aug. 26, at a salary of $51,283.
• Autumn L. Fisher as an Autistic support teacher at Indian Valley Elementary Center effective Aug. 26, at a salary of $72,183.
• James W. Shiring III as a mathematics teacher at Mifflin County High School effective Aug. 26, at a salary of $62,083.
• Charles D. Bulman as an English teacher at Mifflin County High School effective Aug. 26, at a salary of $55,483.
• Katelyn J. Carolus as an LTS building substitute teacher at East Derry Elementary School effective Aug. 26, at a salary of $51,283. No seniority will be accrued.
Directors also approved the resignation of Allison G. Pent, a full-time life skills support paraprofessional at East Derry Elementary School effective July 27.

These stipends will be fully funded by Title I funds. One percent of Title I funds must be spent on parental engagement activities. The district will pay half of the Title I stipend in December and the other half in May.
Directors also approved Employee A – 08202026 for a sabbatical for health restoration for the 2026-27 school year.
