Commissioners accept director of elections’ resignation

Weyrich served for more than 40 years

MIFFLINTOWN -- Juniata County Commissioners approved the 2027 resignation of Juniata County Voter Registrar/Director of Elections Eva Weyrich on Tuesday morning.

Effective as of the end of business on Dec. 31, 2027, Weyrich will step down from her position. She will have been a director for roughly 40 1/2 years by the time she retires next year.

According to Weyrich, she hopes her early resignation submission will allow Juniata County Commissioners plenty of time to hire the right person for Weyrich to train before her departure.

When asked her reason for retirement, Weyrich stated "It is time for me to retire."

In other news, commissioners accepted a Boost Grant Award in the amount of $20,000 for the Delauter Youth Center Expansion Project.

Commissioners also approved an agreement between Juniata County and the Delauter Youth Center to use grant funding to hire a director for the center.

This agreement runs from Aug. 11, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2028, and the coordinator will be compensated $21 per hour for up to 16 hours per week.

Commissioners also:

• Approved the agreement between Juniata County and the Forensic Interview Coordinator for the Children's Advocacy Center. The agreement runs through March 31, 2027. The Director will be compensated up to $36,400;

• Approved the "Amendment 1 to Subrecipient Agreement" by and between Juniata County and the McAlisterville Area Joint Authority as it relates to the water storage and well development Phase 2. This agreement shall amend the termination date from Nov. 3, 2025, to April 18, 2026;

• Approved the change of contract between Juniata County Children & Youth and KP's Cleaning Service, effective Oct. 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026;

• Approved the change of position for Caitlin Imes to fill the full-time position of Deputy Director of Clean & Green/Parcel Maintenance within the Assessment Office. Imes will take over for Karen Stouffer on Nov. 3. Imes was the secretary/field assessor in the assessment office. Imes' starting rate will be $20.51 per hour;

• Approved the additional training and compensation for Reed Weiand, Telecommunicator in the 911 Center, effective Aug. 17.
