The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

Please be brief and include only basic details. If possible, provide a phone number or email address to be published with contact information.

• Cornhole tournament-duck derby-picnic -- McClure Volunteer Fire Company. Cornhole registration at 8 a.m., games at 9. $25 per team. Picnic platters $15, available for purchase 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All-you-can-eat, eat-in-only. Platters available for take-out. Rubber duck derby at noon. $2 per duck, or a "quack pack" of three ducks for $5. Ducks available for purchase all morning.

• Mifflin County Library Crafterday -- 9 to 11 a.m., Kish Branch, 174 N. Penn St., Belleville. Flower arranging with Nichole Falb. Sign up at the library or on the website. $5 nonrefundable fee due at sign up. All supplies included. Space is limited to 20 people.

Sunday

• Battle of the Bands -- noon to 5 p.m., Hawstone Hollow Winery, 11 Hawstone Road, Lewistown. Six bands competing for $250 prize. Pre-sale tickets $30 at ndcmc.org. Tickets $35 at gate. Kids under 10 free. Wristband included with ticket purchase. Food and drinks available for purchase. Proceeds benefit No Data Centers in Mifflin County non-profit. Rain date Sept. 6.

• ROFF Doggie Splash --noon to 3 p.m., Burnham Community Pool. $5 per dog. Humans are free.

• McCoy House Museum -- open 1 to 3 p.m., 17 N. Main St., Lewistown.

• Beavertown Historical Society Museum -- open 1 to 3 p.m., Beavertown Borough building, 111 W. Walnut St., Beavertown. Feature display will be celebrations and events held in Beavertown through the years. For information, contact Karen Burns at (570) 658-7385.

• Job Club -- 10 a.m. to noon, Mifflin County CareerLink, MCIDC Plaza Building 58. Attendees can search for jobs, tailor resumes, apply for jobs and learn how to get jobs.
