Blessing of the Backpacks

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS — Children at Little Valley Presbyterian Church in Vira participated in a blessing of the backpacks during the church’s Children’s Day service on Sunday, Aug. 23. The children helped with the worship service and received new school supplies for themselves and to share with other students who may need them. During the blessing meditation, the start of a new school year was compared to standing at a doorway leading to a new classroom, teacher, lessons and friends. The children were reminded that although facing the unknown can be scary, the blessing of their backpacks serves as a reminder that Jesus goes with them and will help them along the way.
