LEWISTOWN -- With the start of the school year less than two weeks away on Aug, 31, the Operating Committee of the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology had one last round of instructors to approve and resignations tendered.
Also, added to that list was the welcoming of new Administrative Director A. Michael Durn, who assumed that role this summer after Laura Hicks left after two years at the helm.
Thursday night's Operating Committee meeting at the Academy was the first full meeting for the new director. (There was a brief meeting in July to vote on an HVAC compressor.) In addition, the committee opted for a continuation of service for acting principal, Mark Crosson. The new contract would run through June 30, 2027.
The new hires included: Mark S. Sauer, HR administrative services; and Pamela B. Harpster, cosmetology instructor. Resignations were tendered by Nicole Lewis, HR generalist; Michelle M. Wagner, cosmetology instructor; and Ashley N. Malago, cosmetology instructional aide.
Tenure was also granted to instructors Jillian R. Wright, health professions; Nicolette M. Cusate, agricultural sciences; and Travis J. McCullough, culinary arts.
