LEWISTOWN -- More than $27 million has been allocated for road and bridge improvements across Blair, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata and Mifflin counties as part of Pennsylvania's 2026-27 state budget, according to Sen. Judy Ward, R-Blair.

The budget requires the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to distribute an additional $775 million from the Motor License Fund over the next two fiscal years for road and bridge projects statewide. The funding includes $500 million during the current fiscal year to support projects during the ongoing construction season and $275 million in 2027-28.

Within the 30th Senatorial District, Blair County is slated to receive about $10.01 million, Huntingdon County $6.64 million, Juniata County $3.97 million, Mifflin County $3.77 million and Fulton County $2.88 million.

Ward said the funding will support improvements to transportation infrastructure throughout the region.

"Reliable roads are essential to our communities, and this funding will help improve the transportation infrastructure people rely on every day," Ward said in a statement. "By securing more than $27 million for the 30th District, we're moving forward with greatly needed infrastructure improvements to make travel safer for residents, businesses and visitors alike."

According to Ward's office, the funding is designated for additional road and bridge projects on PennDOT's low-volume roadways, helping accelerate repairs and improvements to rural transportation infrastructure.
