Speed display board installed in Juniata County
From staff reports
McCOYSVILLE — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has installed a radar-controlled speed display board along state Route 35 in Tuscarora Township in an effort to reduce speeding and improve traffic safety.
The speed display board is located on the northbound side of Route 35 between Woodward Lane and Black Log Road near Reeds Gap, where the posted speed limit is 45 mph. Using radar, the sign detects the speed of approaching vehicles and displays it to drivers as a reminder to slow down when necessary.
PennDOT said speeding is one of the most common forms of aggressive driving and a leading contributor to crashes and traffic fatalities. Other aggressive driving behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, illegal passing and tailgating.
According to PennDOT, aggressive driving was identified as a contributing factor in 42% of crashes in Juniata County in 2025.
Additional information about aggressive driving and highway safety is available on PennDOT’s website.
