Road work begins Monday in Juniata Co.

From staff reports

THOMPSONTOWN — Motorists should expect delays next week as milling, paving and sidewalk improvements begin on several roads in Juniata County, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Beginning Monday, July 13, crews will install Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps along Route 333 and Route 3002 (Main Street Road) in Thompsontown Borough. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.

Milling and paving operations are scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 14, on Route 333 and on Routes 2004 (Cunningham Road) and 2005 (Center Road) in Walker Township. Flaggers will remain in place throughout the week as work continues.

The work is part of a $1.9 million highway reconstruction project that will improve more than 11 miles of roadway in Juniata and Snyder counties. Additional improvements under the contract include guide rail upgrades, line painting, ADA curb ramp installation and other miscellaneous construction.

Other roads included in the project are:

Route 35 between White Hall Road in Fayette Township and the Mahantango Creek bridge at the Juniata-Snyder County line in Monroe Township.

Route 2028 (Goodville Road) near the Dutchman Run bridge, about five miles east of Salem in Greenwood Township.

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc., of New Enterprise, is the contractor. Work is expected to be completed by early October, weather permitting.

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution in work zones, obey flaggers and posted signs, and allow extra travel time. Traffic impacts will be announced as the project progresses.

Starting at $3.75/week.
