Firefighters rescue missing person from Juniata River

LEWISTOWN -- Firefighters safely rescued a person reported missing in the Juniata River during a water rescue operation Sunday evening.

According to City Hook and Ladder No. 14, crews were dispatched to the river around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a missing person in the water. Firefighters searched the river and located the individual safely offshore.

It was not immediately clear whether the person was injured.

Fight in Juniata Terrace results in citations

JUNIATA TERRACE -- State police responded to a fight along state Route 103 North in Juniata Terrace on July 27.

According to police, four people were involved, including two men who were cited following the incident. Police said a 19-year-old Lewistown man and a 21-year-old Burnham man were cited after all parties were interviewed.

Driver cited after Monroe Twp. crash

RICHFIELD -- A Mount Pleasant Mills woman was cited after a two-vehicle crash in Monroe Township, Juniata County, on July 27.

State police said Charlotte J. Glassner, 60, was traveling north on Route 35 when she fell asleep and drifted off the roadway, striking the rear of a parked SUV near the intersection with Market Street. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage. Glassner was not injured and was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic. Richfield Fire Company and EMS assisted at the scene.

Police report attempted

escape from custody

MIFFLINTOWN -- State police reported an attempted escape from custody in Fermanagh Township on July 18.

According to police, Jason Agosto-Castro, 50, of McAlisterville, attempted to escape custody while at 140 Stoney Creek Drive shortly after midnight. Additional information was not released.

McClure man charged after assault investigation

ALFARATA -- A 22-year-old McClure man faces charges following an assault investigation in Decatur Township.

State police said Gregory Varner was charged through Magisterial District Judge 58-3-02 after investigating an assault July 25 at 25 Truck Lane. The victims included a 20-year-old McClure woman and a 1-year-old child from Decatur Township, according to police.

Police investigate McVeytown theft

MCVEYTOWN -- State police are investigating a theft reported in McVeytown.

According to police, a $100 item was stolen from a property on North Water Street on July 26. The victim was identified as a 55-year-old McVeytown woman. No additional details were released.

Missing person located safely

FAYETTE TOWNSHIP -- State police have located a missing person who was reported in Fayette Township, Juniata County.

Police said they began attempting to locate the individual July 15 along Main Street and later found the person without incident. No additional information was released.
