Harassment charge filed after domestic incident
MIFFLIN -- Pennsylvania State Police charged a Port Royal man with harassment following a domestic incident June 30 in Mifflin Borough. Police said Tyler Gomez Hernandez, 25, allegedly shoved a 30-year-old woman and grabbed her face during the incident on Main Street. He was charged with harassment through Magisterial District Judge 41-3-02.
Police investigate theft of phones, handgun
MIFFLIN -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of two cellphones and a handgun reported June 30 from a residence on Main Street in Mifflin Borough. Stolen items included an Apple iPhone 14, an Apple iPhone 17 and a Canik Mete MC9 handgun. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP Lewistown at (717) 320-1010.
Two cited after Monroe Township crash
RICHFIELD -- Two drivers were cited following a two-vehicle crash at about 6:50 p.m. July 12 on Main Street west of Heister Valley Road. State police said Kaylee Stark, 22, of McAlisterville, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Jason Colyer, 47, of Richfield after traffic stopped. Bobbie Colyer, 47, of Richfield, was transported to Geisinger Lewistown Hospital with minor injuries. Stark was cited for following too closely, while Jason Colyer was cited for careless driving.
No injuries reported in US 22 crashes
MIFFLINTOWN -- State police investigated a rear-end crash at 11:25 a.m. July 15 on U.S. 22 about 6 miles west of the U.S. 322 Business exit. Police said a 2023 Ford F-150 struck the rear of a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were driven from the scene. The Ford driver was cited for following too closely.
MIFFLINTOWN -- No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash at 10:23 a.m. July 15 at the intersection of U.S. 22 and the Port Royal on-ramp. State police said a Subaru Crosstrek struck a Mazda CX-5 while attempting to merge onto the highway. The Subaru driver was cited for an improper turning movement.
Driver seriously injured after vehicle strikes building
ALEXANDRIA -- A 28-year-old Alexandria man suffered serious injuries after crashing into Graystone Manor early July 16, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Police said the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 22 when he lost control, crossed the eastbound lane, struck a ditch, became airborne and crashed through the east side of the building, coming to rest on the vehicle's roof. The driver was flown to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. The vehicle briefly caught fire, but the building's sprinkler system and responding firefighters extinguished the flames. Police said charges are pending, including driving under the influence and reckless endangerment.
Driver strikes bear on Raystown Road
MIFFLINTOWN -- A James Creek woman was uninjured after striking a bear with her vehicle at about 9:42 p.m. July 15 on Raystown Road south of Nikki Court. State police said Tracie Miller, 58, was unable to avoid the bear after it ran into the roadway.
