Driver cited after rollover crash in Decatur Township
McCLURE -- A McClure man was cited after a one-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Old Stage Road in Decatur Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said Michael A. Harris, 21, was traveling south on Old Stage Road near Chickadee Drive at about 4:36 p.m. when he observed a piece of farm equipment ahead and applied his brakes. Harris told police he steered left after seeing an oncoming vehicle, causing his 2003 Volkswagen Passat to leave the roadway.
The vehicle struck an embankment, crossed a private driveway, hit a barbed wire fence and traveled down a steep embankment before overturning and coming to rest at the bottom of the slope.
A witness told police Harris had been traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. Harris suffered suspected minor injuries but declined transport by EMS. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police cited Harris for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Traffic stop results in drug charge
MIFFLINTOWN -- A 32-year-old East Waterford man was charged after a traffic stop Monday afternoon on westbound U.S. Route 22 in Walker Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, troopers stopped a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox at about 4:03 p.m. and seized a small amount of marijuana. One person was charged.
Police investigate theft at Port Royal business
PORT ROYAL -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a theft reported July 5 at Cowboy Kitchen, 316 Market St., Port Royal.
No additional information about the theft was released.
Receiving stolen property case under investigation
MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a receiving stolen property case reported May 27 along Route 333 in Walker Township.
Police said troopers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and determined it was connected to a previous theft involving Zeiset Equipment in Beaver Springs. A 36-year-old Beavertown man was identified in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Selinsgrove man charged after vehicle strikes home
MIDDLEBURG -- A 36-year-old Selinsgrove man is facing charges after allegedly crashing into a home and leaving the scene early June 10 in Franklin Township, Snyder County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, Shane S. Hobbs was driving south on Route 522 shortly after 3:15 a.m. when he became distracted by a cigarette on the ground and crossed into the northbound lane before leaving the roadway.
Police said the vehicle traveled across a yard and struck a single-family brick home before Hobbs drove away without reporting the crash. Troopers said Hobbs later admitted consuming alcohol before the crash, which was believed to be a contributing factor.
Hobbs suffered suspected minor injuries. He was charged with accidents involving damage to attended property.
Driver avoids deer, crashes into utility pole
NEW BERLIN -- An 82-year-old Middleburg man escaped injury after crashing while attempting to avoid a deer June 22 on Smalsh Barrick Road in Jackson Township, Snyder County.
State police said Clarence R. Laudenslager swerved after a deer entered the roadway, striking a utility pole and a fence before coming to rest against a tensile fence. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Police did not file charges.
Charges filed after domestic dispute
PENNS CREEK -- Pennsylvania State Police filed charges following an inactive domestic dispute reported July 8 at a residence on Chestnut Street in Center Township, Snyder County.
Police identified those involved as Brooke Gemberling, 36, and Anthony Yoder, 37, both of Middleburg. No additional information about the charges was released.
