Passenger injured in Milford Township rollover
MIFFLINTOWN -- A passenger suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle rollover crash July 4 on Licking Creek Road in Milford Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said Michael O. Alvira Molina, 28, of Mifflin, was driving west on the gravel roadway at about 4:27 p.m. when he attempted to negotiate a sharp right-hand curve but was traveling too fast. The vehicle slid sideways, struck a ditch and rolled onto its passenger side.
A passenger, Paola Lagos, 21, of Mifflin, was transported by ambulance with suspected minor injuries. Alvira Molina was not injured. Both occupants were wearing seat belts, police said. Alvira Molina was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
Grays Towing, Mifflintown Fire Company and EMS assisted at the scene.
Facebook threat deemed not credible
MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police determined there was no credible threat after investigating a report of a possible threat toward the Juniata Valley High School graduation that was posted on Facebook.
According to state police, the report was received at 10:29 a.m. May 5. Troopers determined the post did not pose an actual threat, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Two vehicles collide at Walker Township intersection
MIFFLINTOWN -- No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash July 7 at the intersection of William Penn Highway and Weis Drive in Walker Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said Mervin S. King, 61, of Port Royal, was traveling west on William Penn Highway at about 1:35 p.m. when he failed to stop for a steady red light and struck a vehicle driven by Kay C. Weimer, 67, also of Port Royal, as she attempted to turn left onto William Penn Highway from Weis Drive.
King was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. Mifflintown Fire Company and EMS assisted at the scene.
State police investigate damaged property
MOUNT UNION -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a report of damaged property on Wharton Road in Wayne Township.
According to police, troopers responded to the report at about 11:54 a.m. July 1. The victim is a 60-year-old Mount Union woman. No additional details were released, and the investigation is continuing.
Three charged in Fermanagh Township retail theft
MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police have charged three people in connection with a retail theft investigation at the Exxon on Stop Plaza Drive in Fermanagh Township.
According to police, the investigation stemmed from a June 7 theft in which a case of Dasani water, a box of shoes, assorted merchandise and sanitizer with a combined value of about $148 were stolen. Those charged include two 18-year-old men from Scranton and a 19-year-old man from Baldwin, Mich.
Driver injured after tree falls on car
THOMPSONTOWN -- A Newport woman suffered suspected minor injuries after a tree fell onto her vehicle July 2 on Seven Stars Road in Greenwood Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said Susan E. Jones, 44, was driving north when a tree fell onto the roof of her Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle then left the roadway and came to rest on the left side of the road. Jones was transported to Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center for treatment. Grays Towing assisted at the scene.
Utility pole struck in Greenwood Township
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that damaged a utility pole early July 9 in Greenwood Township.
According to police, an unknown vehicle traveling east on Route 235 near Seven Stars Road drifted off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole before leaving the scene. The driver's identity and whether anyone was injured are unknown. IB Abel Inc. assisted at the scene.
