MIFFLINTOWN -- A potential industrial expansion in Juniata County is underway as Nittany Paper Mills LLC, of Lewistown, moves toward purchasing land in the Juniata County Industrial Park.
While the deal is not yet finalized, the company has taken its first step by requesting that the property be reassembled into a single parcel, a decision confirmed by Dane Walters, marketing manager for Juniata Business and Industry, Inc., of Mifflintown.
Christopher W. Dellinger, of the engineering firm HRG Inc., presented a reconsolidation plan to the Fermanagh Township supervisors on July 13. The proposal would merge a 62.23-acre tract -- currently divided into more than 10 lots -- back into one lot.
Dellinger told supervisors the move is necessary because the land had recently been subdivided by Juniata Business and Industry, Inc.
As recently as November 2025, JBI advertised 12 available lots were available in Phase IV of its development near Cedar Spring and Industrial Park roads. Walters declined to comment on the potential purchase.
All three supervisors voted to approve the reconsolidation plan. The parties involved also pointed out that the township never accepted dedication of the road or water infrastructure serving the site.
According to officials, Nittany Paper expects to take a few months to prepare a land development plan. Before that process begins Nittany Paper wants to reconsolidate the lots before they purchase them.
No other details were released about Nittany Paper's intended use of the property.
