Man charged after meth found in backpack

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN — A man wanted on an outstanding warrant is facing felony drug charges after police allegedly found methamphetamine inside a backpack he left in a residence while attempting to avoid arrest.

According to the Lewistown Police Department, officers observed Rodney L. Frymyer Jr., 30, who has no fixed address, walking on South Pine Road on July 2. Officers were aware an arrest warrant had been issued by the Mifflin County District Attorney’s Office for failure to appear on a previous drug paraphernalia charge.

Police said Frymyer entered a residence in the 100 block of Pannebaker Avenue carrying a black backpack as officers attempted to arrest him. He exited a short time later without the backpack and acknowledged he had heard officers before entering the residence.

The homeowner gave officers permission to retrieve the backpack. After obtaining a search warrant, police allegedly found approximately 19 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale containing methamphetamine residue and identification belonging to Frymyer inside the bag.

Frymyer was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility on the outstanding warrant. Police said an arrest warrant has also been requested charging him with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

Starting at $3.75/week.
